Linn County Historical Museum

A visit to the Linn County Historical Museum, located in downtown Brownsville, offers hours of enriching education about the pioneers who settled the area, the Native Americans who first inhabited the land, the local filming of the movie “Stand By Me,” and much more. Admission is free, and donations are always appreciated. You’ll also find a gift shop with unique finds for all ages and interests. The museum is housed inside a historic train station, and you’ll get a chance to explore some train cars as well.

The Living Rock Studios

The building housing the Living Rock Studios is a true masterpiece, as are the treasures inside. The structure took ten years to build, and it's unique. Inside, you'll find historical artifacts, artwork, antiques, and, of course, rocks. A $3 donation is requested for entry. This is an attraction that everyone in the family will enjoy and should not be missed.

The moyer house

The Moyer House in downtown Brownsville was built in 1881 and has been restored to its original state. This impressive home showcases original stenciling, beautiful paintings, and recreated furnishings. Tours of this local treasure are available through the museum located a block away. During some annual events, the doors are also opened for visitors to explore scenes of life in the 1800s.

Brownsville Parks

You can enjoy many afternoons at our local parks. Take a walk through Pioneer Park, which has a children's play structure, sports fields, plenty of trees and squirrels, and event buildings. It borders the Calapooia River, where you can dip your feet in the water. Kirk Ferry Park is right downtown with a basketball court and a grassy area perfect for picnics. This is also where you'll find the seasonal Farmers Market. A visit to McKercher Park on the outskirts of town is a must, with its picnic areas, river access, and stunning views.

The Calapooia River

The beautiful Calapooia River flows right through Brownsville. You'll cross the river using our iconic green bridge as you enter town.
